Went to Togakushi Shrine in Nagano over the weekend with my friend, Wakako. I didn't think it would be SO cold... Much colder compared to Bologna and we were both freezing the entire time. In the winter time, Togakushi gets crowded with many skiers but I guess we went before ski season so we were actually the only customers at the place we stayed at. By the way, for those of you who have never heard of Togakushi... Here's an explanation I found... "Togakushi-jinja (Shrine) stands in the midst of a wood with cedar trees that are over a hundred years old, just at the foot of the precipice of Mt. Togakushi. It consists of three shrines - the lower shrine is Hoko-sha (Treasure of Light), the second Chu-sha (Middle Shrine) and the third Oku-sha (Deep Sanctuary). They were built at intervals of roughly two kilometres. These shrines are dedicated to mythological gods and each has a long history." So, we wanted to go to all of the shrines but as it snowed, we were told it's too dangerous so we couldn't, which was really too bad... Well hopefully next year!
